Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction
An Eight Week Group Programme facilitated by Stephen Archer and Lucy Schwabe
Evenings 17th October – 5 December 2013
This is an invitation to move toward greater balance, control and participation in your life…
Worldwide, tens of thousands of people have accepted this invitation and they’ve learned to integrate into their everyday lives the methods of mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR), a programme developed by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn at the University of Massachusetts Medical School.
Mindfulness is a way of strengthening our inner resources by enhancing focus and clarity, and increasing our overall wellbeing. It enhances our choice of what phenomena we attend to and how we act, and involves bringing non-judgmental awareness to the external and internal experiences occurring in the present moment. Being mindful allows for a clearer understanding of how our state of mind impacts our performance. It makes use of the inherent ability of our mind and body to rebalance and sustain well-being, and discover positive new perspectives, solutions and responses.
Mindfulness is developed through simple meditation-type practices which involve calming the restless mind and relaxing the body. It utilises powerful and practical methods to deepen awareness and bring attention more fully and positively into the present moment. Mindfulness has been shown in clinical research to increase mental fitness, reduce stress, negative thinking, anxiety, and depression.
Mindfulness-based stress reduction is intended to ignite your inner sense of health and wellbeing and infuse your life with awareness.
